Hardware
If you have a small system and don't expect a high volume of logs (less than 100 EPS), you can install XLog-Solution on existing server and share resources. However, for most enterprise it would be a better idea to dedicate a server for XLog-Solution. Having XLog-Server and MySQL Server on the same appliance will reduce network traffic and gives XLog-Server and XLog-Dashboard a better response time from MySQL. Also, consider to put MySQL database standalone on hard disk with RAID level 0+1. Hard disk space and memory requirements depends on estimated EPS (Events Per Second).
If you don't want to setup a computer with the previous requirements, you can use our virtual machine appliance (see Downloads page). XLog-Solution appliance has been setup with everything (Linux, MySQL Server, XLog-Solution with free license). Assign a static IP address to the appliance and start browsing your logs from any local computer. The appliance has been setup with VirtualBox (version 4.0.4) with FC13-i386 as a guest. It is exported has ovf and ova file. VirtualBox is available for many flavor of Linux, Unix, Solaris and Windows.
